Record Breaking Snowfall in North Texas
We had record-breaking snowfall on Thursday & Friday (2/11 and 2/12/10) in the North Texas area. Approximately 12.5 inches of snow fell, beating the previous 24-hour record of 12.1 inches set in 1964. The most snow recorded in DFW in 1 day was 7.8 inches, set on 1/15/1964 and 1/14/1917. The snowfall began very early Thursday morning and continued, non-stop, for almost 24 hours! This winter has been documented as the “snowiest” winter on record for the DFW area. Denton ISD closed schools on Thursday and Friday, so we were able to fully enjoy this beautiful act of nature. Click here to view all of the pictures and videos in the gallery.
